The Ace of Swords:
This represents victory, attainment of power or goals. You may be a leader of something, a hero of sorts. It also can indicate the birth of a brave, courageous child.
When it is reversed, it represents destruction or obstacles, abuse of power to gain advantage.

King of Swords:
This indicates a strong-willed, determined, intelligent man.
Reversed, it indicates a stubborn, mean, untrustworthy man.

Queen of Swords:
This symbolizes a confident, strong, intuitive, perceptive, intelligent woman.
When it is reversed, it shows a cruel, sly, backbiting, narrowminded woman.

Knight of Swords:
This represents someone heroic and brave. It can also indicate triumph over your troubles, a solution to a problem, or righteous anger.
Reversed, it shows bad judgment, mistakes, impulsive behavior.

Page of Swords:
This means a young person will be of help. It also can mean insight, watchfulness, being mentally alert.
If it is reversed it means unfortunate circumstances, the unexpected, vulnerability, or childish behavior, pettiness.

10 of Swords:
Extreme misfortune, loss, or failure. Desolation, defeat, ruin, and pain. Or it can mean misfortunes are over, depending on the surrounding cards.
Reversed, it means courage, success, troubles are falling away, things are going to get better.

9 of Swords:
This shows suffering, doubt, dishonesty, suspicion, illness or injury. It can also mean troubles aren't over yet because the worst is yet to come.
When it is reversed, it means the end of suffering, doubt, and troubles. Good news, patience.

8 of Swords:
There is fear, indecision, illness, difficulties, things seem impossible.
Reversed, this card represents a new start, freedom or release from difficulties.

7 of Swords:
Betrayal, failure, stealing, dishonesty. Or it can represent stealth or bravery, depensing on the surrounding cards in the reading.
If it is reversed, then it indicates the return of stolen things, or good advice.

6 of Swords:
This symbolizes finding understanding or a higher state of consciousness. Escape from your troubles. It can also indicate a journey made on or over water.
Reversed, it shows there is no escape at this time from your troubles, try to find that higher state of consciousness! It can also mean a trip is postponed.

5 of Swords:
This shows manipulation is in the works, trickery to win unfairly, failure, or defeat. A major loss.
Reversed it means an empty victory, unfairness, basically the same as the upright meaning, but to a lesser degree.

4 of Swords:
This indicates healing of some sort, rest, meditation, a return to the basics, privacy.
Reversed it shows an end to rest, a return to an active life, getting back out in the world.

3 of Swords:
This means extreme sorrow, grief, loss, emotional pain.
When it is reversed it means basically the same as when it is upright, but not as severe.

2 of Swords:
This shows balance may be put to the test because of being in a dangerous situation, there is the possibility of choosing the lesser of two evils, struggling and trying to deal with many things. Or it may indicate the you have the knowledge and ability to balance and deal with the situation and make the best of it.
Reversed, it means the waiting is over and things are more balanced. Travel is possible. I may also mean the beginning of a new situation.
